| Documents
created on PCs can also be managed by Smeadlink using PC Files. Files created
in word processing applications such as WordPerfect, or Microsoft Word, spreadsheets
such as Microsoft Excel files, even Acrobat PDF files can be located using Librarian,
and then opened in their native application for viewing and editing. When a file
is saved, a record is created in Librarian pointing to the original document.
Any authorized Librarian user can then select the document which will launch the
native application and open the file. By using Smeadlink to keep track of internally
created documents as well as hard copy records, faxes, imaged records and host
computer data, all relevant information about a particular subject can be located
quickly and easily in Librarian. Files
created on networked PCs are managed by Smeadlink Librarian. When a document is
located in the records grid, an icon appears indicating the native application
used to create the file. Clicking on the icon launches the application and opens
the document for editing. | |
